"Mazepa's Code". Episode 2

Our grand annual journey continues, and we are ready to open the next door!

Following the incredible success of the first stage in the lower halls of the Hetmanate Museum, we are moving to a new level. Episode 2 is not just a change of exposition; it is a large-scale conceptual expansion and decoding of meanings!

In this new space, we are creating a unique curatorial dialogue: brand new, fresh canvases by contemporary Ukrainian artists will meet selected, most iconic works from the first exhibition. This is a living transformation where paintings interact with one another, revealing new layers of the genetic code of our freedom.

We remind you that "Mazepa's Code" is not a search for a portrait likeness. Together with the artists, we are not copying the Hetman's facial features, but rather exploring his scale as a European intellectual, diplomat, and builder through the language of colors, symbols, and textures. We are revealing the very same great legend that the entire world admired in the 19th century — from Voltaire to Byron and Hugo. Back then, the world marveled at Mazepa’s resilience; today, it marvels at the resilience of each one of us. We are simply finishing what he started.
