The hot summer, as always, arrived unexpectedly in the capital. Now we have three months to fully enjoy it. We've compiled a list of things you must definitely do in Kyiv during the summer season. Take notes, cross them off after completion, and remember: it's already mid-June.

1. Spending a full day at VDNH

A well-known summer spot in the capital offers so many exciting leisure options that you can truly stay there for an entire day. We recommend starting with bike rides or roller skating, both of which are available for rent. Next, head to the equestrian club and the interactive zoo to satisfy your oxytocin levels and gain a bunch of positive emotions. Continue your day at VDNH by visiting the exhibition of fantastic dragon creatures currently taking place. Accumulated enough impressions? Then it's time to relax and swim at the PIRS 30 pool. The final touch to your day at VDNH should be a friendly picnic in the cozy Picnic Garden.

Where to relax: VDNH (Akademika Hlushkova Avenue, 1).

4. Feed squirrels at the Fomin Botanical Garden

If you've ever strolled through the picturesque Fomin Botanical Garden at least once, you've surely encountered these curious fluffy creatures. In the summer, they particularly enjoy fruits (apples, pears), vegetables (carrots), berries, and breadcrumbs from white bread. Remember not to feed squirrels almonds, peanuts, or salted seeds, as these can be harmful to them.

Where to feed them: Fomin Botanical Garden (Symona Petliury Street, 1).

6. Take a promenade around the capital following the fountain route

On May 31, the capital's fountains started operating, not only providing a captivating sight but also adding a touch of freshness to these hot days. The largest concentration of fountains is, of course, on Khreshchatyk and Independence Square, but we also recommend not overlooking the unique Rusaniivskyi Fountain Complex, constructed in the 1970s. It currently consists of 12 multi-colored fountains.

Where to enjoy the fountains: Independence Square, Khreshchatyk Street, 119/121 Velyka Vasylkivska Street, Rusaniivskyi Canal.

A journey that will provide you with excitement both during the ride (it's recommended to bring ice cream and cold drinks and not take your eyes off the views) and upon arrival.

Pushcha Vodytsia is a separate microcosm in the capital where you can have a cozy picnic in the shade of trees near the water and spend hours exploring its spaces. And remember, at the end of your visit, there's another "scenic" tram ride awaiting you.

How and where to go: Tram #12 starts from Kontraktova Square.

10. Where to go in Kyiv — visit 20 capital landmarks with mascarons, take photos, and post them on Instagram

Kyiv's mascarons are sculptural ornaments in the form of a human face, animal head, or mythical creature, which can be seen on the city's historic buildings. We recommend taking a guidebook and embarking on a journey through the center of Kyiv. The goal: to find at least 20 mascarons (there are many more), hidden on the cozy city streets. And, of course, post them on Instagram or Facebook.
