Premiere by the Veterans Theatre!
Everything is always in our hands. Or not everything. Or not always. A story about things hard to explain with words. Or things that don't need explaining at all.
Maryna, a volunteer and a soldier's wife, lives with her daughter in a village, waiting for news from her husband at the front. During this time, her brooding hen dies, leaving behind a single incubated egg. Maryna decides to keep the egg warm herself, determined to give the chick a chance to be born. The villagers begin to whisper that Maryna is a witch, carrying the egg under her arm to hatch a Khovanets—a domestic demon or "helper spirit." But the protagonist has a completely different motivation.
