Add to calendarThis is more than a performance; it is a grand artistic journey into the depths of Ukrainian identity, historical memory, and personal drama. This extraordinary project is a true revelation for the audience, offering a fresh perspective on the figure of Taras Shevchenko.
The production, which premiered in April 2025 at the Kharkiv Opera, captivated viewers by portraying Shevchenko not as a bronze-cast symbol, but as a living human being. Here, he is not just a Prophet and a fighter, but a man who doubts, suffers, loves, and dreams. A man who questions himself and finds answers through the lens of time.
Two faces of Taras are revealed to the audience: the young Shevchenko — full of hope, rebellious energy, and painful discoveries — brought to life by Honored Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Kozlov; and the mature poet, portrayed by international competition laureate Mykyta Marynchak — burdened by memories, losses, and anger, yet filled with dignity and faith in tomorrow. Their dialogue on stage — deep, moving, and psychologically intense — reflects the fractured yet unconquerable spirit of the Ukrainian nation.
