This spring, alongside the Squat-Garden, an exhibition by Olha Kokoshko about "home" begins to bloom.
Olha Kokoshko is the creator of much of the visual identity of Squat 17b; she is the one who painted the summer terrace furniture, the fences, and even the walls of the Squat. One of the artist's cherished childhood memories of her home—now lost—is a sun-drenched room filled with furniture, with a view of a poppy flower from the window. Olha is heartened that in her second home, Squat 17b, people care for not only each other but also for animals, the chestnut tree, the garden, and every plant in the yard, as nature remains her primary inspiration.
The exhibition features: painted chairs, birdhouses, prints, graphics, and paintings. At the opening, Olha will share the story of how the Squat’s space has evolved and been painted over time.
