April 1986 forever divided the world into "before" and "after." The Chernobyl nuclear disaster was not just the greatest man-made catastrophe in history; it was a stern and relentless test of the cost of human error and the weight of fateful decisions. The echo of that night changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and turned blooming lands into the Exclusion Zone—a place where time seemed to freeze, and nature has been relentlessly reclaiming its own from civilization. This exhibition is a tribute to the valor of those who blocked the path of an invisible enemy and a fervent warning for future generations.
Before your eyes is an exceptional collection of 28 graphic works, born in the very heart of the Zone through the pen and ink of renowned Ukrainian artist Viktor Zinchenko. These are not merely sketches of specialized machinery. They are observations "from life," sincere and steadfast. Almost every vehicle immortalized by the artist was found and drawn directly at the site of its final resting place.
These works masterfully recreate the austere aesthetics of abandoned iron: rust-eaten metal, layers of decades, and that oppressive yet majestic atmosphere of Chernobyl that captivates the spirit.
The collection, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, serves as a powerful link between the grim reality of the past and our consciousness today. Every line is saturated with the true history of the vehicles that remained in the Zone forever, becoming silent witnesses of a bygone era.
The exhibition will run from June 1 to June 14, 2026. Ticket price: 50 UAH. For inquiries, please call: (044) 232-43-27; 063-737-22-85, or email tychynafm@gmail.com.
