On March 13, the Museum of the History of Kyiv presents the anniversary exhibition "I Shook This World," celebrating the 90th birthday of the legendary Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk.
One of the most prominent figures in contemporary art, Marchuk is the creator of over 5,000 works and the inventor of the unique "Plyontanism" technique (from the Ukrainian word for "entangled"). This grand exhibition spans all floors of the museum, showcasing nearly 250 pieces.
The display features works from 11 Ukrainian museums and 30 private collections, including early paintings, student sketches, and ceramic panels from the artist's personal archive that have never been seen by the public. From defying the Soviet system to becoming a symbol of independent Ukraine, Marchuk’s art has reached every continent on Earth—even Antarctica.
