Play "Therapies"

There are topics we have learned to speak about in whispers. As if by not naming them aloud, we could keep them from entering our lives.

War has changed the scale of our attention. Next to it, many personal fears, losses, and trials seem to have become less noticeable, less urgent, almost inappropriate. But they have not disappeared anywhere. Nor have the people experiencing them.

The play "Therapies" restores the right to speak about one of such experiences, so as to strip fear of a portion of its power.

Six women find themselves side by side at a moment when life ceases to be an abstraction. And suddenly it turns out that life consists of more than just what we fear. It consists of silly jokes, awkward questions, love, anger, other people's habits, one's own body, the desire to please, arguments, tenderness, and plans for tomorrow. They do not know how they are supposed to be, but they keep on living.

"Therapies" is a play about how we are always greater than what happens to us.
