Our theater - the first theater on the left bank of Kyiv - was born on September 7, 1978. The first troupe gathering was held on this day. And the first premiere - the play "The Highest Point - Love" by R. Fedyenov - was held on April 21, 1979 at the premises of the current Brodsky Choral Synagogue (the former Shota Rustaveli Puppet Theater, 13).
After the High Point, the troupe waited for three years to travel around the capital. In fact, the unique period of the theater's life was several months in the winter of 1979: eight pieces were rehearsed at the same time (another was added since February). Something similar in theatrical practice still needs to be looked for. Two performances were rehearsed each night from April 15, from 6 pm to 9 pm and from 10 pm to 2 am. The actors also worked as stage editors and electricians.
In May 1982, the city government gave the team and its head to the Edward Customs Building, which housed the Cosmos Cinema. Initially, within its walls was created "Theater in the lobby" - the first small stage in Kiev and Ukraine at that time.
The theater we know him now officially opened on December 21, 1990 with the performance of "I am always your bride" by Otar Iosseliani.
Today, Theater on the Left Bank is more than 50 performances in the repertoire, a tight schedule of prime ministers, a star troupe of the best actors of the country and great plans for the future, which are sure to be brought to life. From February 2019, new leaders are coming to the theater: director-artistic director Stas Zhirkov and chief director Tamara Trunov.
