This evening, in the atmospheric acoustic hall of the historic St. Catherine's German Evangelical Church in the heart of Kyiv, the audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of piano four hands. This genre held a prominent place in European musical culture and compositional practice during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Program:
Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART — Sonata in C Major for Piano Four Hands, K. 521 Composed in 1787, this sonata consists of three movements: Allegro, Andante, and Allegretto. It is one of Mozart's most brilliant examples of chamber music, where the elegance and depth of his musical language unfold through an equal dialogue between the parts.
Franz SCHUBERT — Andantino with Variations from Divertissement on Original French Motifs, D. 823 Created in 1825, this variation cycle is distinguished by its emotional depth and versatility, rightfully belonging to the most refined works of piano literature.
Franz SCHUBERT — Fantasy in F minor for Piano Four Hands, D. 940 One of Schubert's most moving and significant large-scale compositions, written in 1828 during the final year of his life. The Fantasy is filled with dramatic tension, lyrical depth, and the melodic richness for which the great song-writer is renowned.
Johannes BRAHMS — Hungarian Dances for Piano Four Hands (F minor, F-sharp minor, G minor) Brahms's Hungarian Dances combine the folk flavor of Hungarian dance rhythms with exquisite melodicism and piano virtuosity.
