For Kyivans, the last weekend of May is always special. It is a time for ritual strolls through blooming parks and for rediscovering the city once more. The Ivan Honchar Museum is located near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the Dnipro hills—iconic landmarks of urban identity that offer stunning views of the capital.
Following a long-standing tradition, the Ivan Honchar Museum courtyard will host a Folk Art Fair, bringing together artisans from all over Ukraine. Here, you can find objects with a soul: from minimalist ceramics and items crafted from wicker, wood, or straw to traditional clothing, jewelry, and ethno-accessories that perfectly complement a modern wardrobe.
Dedicated spaces for pottery, wicker weaving, and wood carving will be open, where masters will demonstrate the creation of items that become true heritage.
The first mentions of grand fairs in Kyiv date back to the late 18th century. Back then, a fair was the "internet" of its day—a place to exchange news and ideas and to strike important deals. Today’s fair at the Honchar Museum is a direct descendant of this communicative tradition. It is an opportunity to see that tradition is not the past, but the very foundation of contemporary design and art.
The program includes workshops, community singing, traditional music, and dancing. Children of all ages can enjoy a special educational program and traditional entertainment. On May 31, a special program will take place as part of the Kobzar Trinity 2026 festival.
Bring your friends, charge your phones for those aesthetic stories, and come get your share of the cultural code. It is the perfect way to spend the last weekend of spring!
