Lecture "How It Was: Archaeological Stories About Discoveries"

Behind every archaeological artifact lies its own story. Those stories are filled with days of exhausting labor by archaeologists, searches, moments of despair, and discoveries.

In the aftermath of Archaeologist's Day, we invite you to an engaging story about the tales behind the discovery of four major Scythian-era masterpieces from the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine:

• The gorytos from the Melitopol Kurgan in 1954;

• The silver bowl from the Haimanova Mohyla Kurgan in 1969;

• The golden pectoral from the Tovsta Mohyla Kurgan in 1971;

• The golden ritual object from the Perederiyeva Mohyla Kurgan in 1988.

You will become acquainted with the stories of the archaeologists who had the honor of finding these masterpieces — Oleksii Terenozhkin, Vasyl Bidzilia, Borys Mozolevskyi, and Alla Moruzhenko — as well as colleagues and assistants without whose active participation these discoveries would have been impossible.

The narrative will be enhanced by the art project "Pectoral Inspires."
