About the place
The Kyiv National Art Gallery was opened on November 12, 1922, and initially bore the name of the Kyiv Picture Gallery. Emerging during a difficult time of devastation and famine after the 1917 revolution and the Civil War, the gallery went through all the stages of establishment, restructuring, deprivation, and loss that Ukraine experienced during its time within the Soviet Union.
