Through reflection, dialogue, and observation, like-minded artists arrived at the realization that the soul glows with its own inner light—one kindred to intellect and natural beauty. This applies to every one of us. In this context, they recalled the ancient Greek idealist philosopher Plotinus, who believed that an inner light dwells within a human being, acting as a reflection of a higher reality. This thought felt remarkably resonant, giving rise to the title of the upcoming exhibition: "YOUR LIGHT."
Recent winters in Ukraine are vividly associated with the light of flashlights and candles, bonfires and lamps, streetlights and searchlights tracking the aggressor to protect the city... This is light that shines; light that warms; light that protects and attacks... In the exhibited paintings, this is not depicted directly; however, the impressions pulse with powerful waves of memory and association. They are not direct, but presented conditionally, though not entirely abstractly—a narrative can even be discerned within the works. Through their imagery, the three artists do not detach themselves from reality, but rather rise above it, offering an attentive and generalized perspective.
The search for light and its radiation is inherent to each artist’s work, but in times of war, this search takes on a particular significance and focus. The works have acquired a vibrant, previously unpredictable expressiveness, provoked by the realities of the times. The canvases contain powerful statements, far from helpless impulses or mourning. Emotional sensitivity manifests individually in each artist's work: each has her own perspective and optical tuning toward Her Own, yet simultaneously—Our and Your Light.
Anna Gidora, Anna Kryvolap, and Anna Myronova speak through their work with poise and energy. Tension, unrest, loss, and reflections on the contemporary and the eternal are embodied in deeply emotional canvases, giving birth to painterly semi-abstract novellas. Thus, the exhibition is not about the drama of events, but about the radiance and strength to endure disaster with dignity and survive by finding salvation in creativity. Each author has her own connection with the Cosmos, and the viewer, following the paths laid out by the artists, moves confidently and easily toward their own illumination or understanding.
Through their essentially monumental painting and expressive visual project, Anna Gidora, Anna Kryvolap, and Anna Myronova prompt society toward discussion and response. At the same time, the emphasis remains on the works themselves rather than political contexts, thereby expanding the scope for both reflection and influence on future generations through imagery that typically plays a leading and vital role in every person's life.
