Add to calendarTonight, under the baton of Maestro Myroslav Kril, the concert hall transforms into an epic cinematic canvas. The National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine presents a program where every piece is more than just a soundtrack — it is a masterpiece that has become the voice of entire generations.
Intermission I: The Grandeur of the Silver Screen The evening opens with the majestic fanfare by Alfred Newman, instantly immersing the audience in the world of cinema. Alongside the dramatic symphonic poem by Yevhen Stankovych for "Roksolana" — an embodiment of the unbreakable Ukrainian female spirit — the orchestra will perform John Williams' legendary suite from "Star Wars." From the delicate Princess Leia’s Theme to the formidable Imperial March, you will experience the full power of the symphonic sound that defined humanity's most famous space saga.
Intermission II: Cultural Codes and Global Blockbusters The second half is dedicated to the genius music that has become the cultural code of our cinema, alongside Hollywood’s greatest hits. Soul-stirring masterpieces by Myroslav Skoryk — the fiery "Hutsul Dance" and the confessional "Melody" — serve as a reminder of the depth of the Ukrainian spirit. These will be followed by the grand compositions of Hans Zimmer and James Horner, whose scores for "Gladiator" and "Titanic" continue to move millions. The program concludes with recognized cinematic gems: the gothic mystery of Webber’s "The Phantom of the Opera" and the heroic drive of Badelt’s "Pirates of the Caribbean."
These melodies have long lived a life of their own beyond the screen, becoming the true classics of our time. Tonight, in all their symphonic majesty, they will unfold before you, delivering the pure energy of live sound and making everyone a part of an unforgettable cinematic legend.
