NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART NAMED AFTER BOGDAN AND VARVARA KHANENKO 15, Vulytsya Tereshchenkivsʹka, Kyiv
In Chinese culture, the Horse is associated with focus, hard work, and productivity. The color red in the zodiac symbolizes determination and courage. It’s hard to find a year symbol that promises more power and competitive spirit.
However, no symbol is perfect, and every trait has a flip side: the Horse can lack flexibility, the ability to notice nuances, and the wisdom to rest in time.
That is why the Khanenko Museum’s Lunar New Year program seeks to balance this intensity with an attention to detail. After all, subtle details can tell us as much about civilizations as their most monumental achievements. One such significant detail is worth noting immediately: the Chinese folk print illustrating this year's program was also created in a Year of the Red Horse — but 120 years ago.
