Add to calendarThe "MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS" concert, performed by the National Academic Wind Orchestra of Ukraine, is a large-scale artistic dialogue between the cultures of Ukraine and Latvia, where music becomes the language of unity.
The evening features an extraordinary lineup of four conductors! Sharing the podium will be Professor Jānis Puriņš, a prominent figure of the Latvian wind music school, alongside Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksii Roshchak, conductor Ivan Stetskyi, and Master of the Latvian Academy of Music Anastasiia Tymoshchenko.
The first half of the program explores Ukrainian musical traditions — ranging from the epic imagery of Mykola Lysenko’s heroic Taras Bulba to the colorful folk intonations of Levko Kolodub and Ihor Shamo, and the festive energy of the Zaporizhian March in a modern arrangement.
The second half presents contemporary Latvian music — vibrant, rhythmic, and evocative. Works by Raimonds Pauls, Juris Karlsons, Alvils Altmanis, and other composers will blend academic traditions with the distinct national colors of the Baltics. A special highlight of the evening will be a clarinet solo, bringing chamber expressiveness to the grand sound of the orchestra.
