Add to calendarOn April 18, the historic and atmospheric St. Catherine's German Evangelical Church, located in the heart of Kyiv, will host an exquisite evening performed by the National Chamber Ensemble "Kyiv Soloists." Conducted by Volodymyr Sirenko.
The program explores the evolution of string orchestral style—from the structural maturity of a 16-year-old Mozart to the Nordic Romanticism of Edvard Grieg. Highlights include Elgar’s intimate "English fog" harmonies and Mendelssohn’s dramatic, youthful energy.
Program Highlights:
W. A. Mozart: Divertimento in B-flat major, K. 137 (A masterpiece of harmony from his Salzburg years).
F. Mendelssohn: String Symphony No. 10 in B minor (A concentrated blend of Baroque counterpoint and Romantic impulse).
E. Elgar: Serenade for Strings in E minor, Op. 20 (A jewel of late 19th-century English lyrical music).
E. Grieg: "From Holberg's Time" Suite, Op. 40 (A neo-classical tribute combining Baroque dance forms with Norwegian melodic richness).
Note: Access to St. Catherine's Church (22 Liuteranska St.) is available only from the Khreshchatyk Street side.
