Lyatoshynsky: String Quartets

Last year, to mark the 130th anniversary of Borys Lyatoshynsky’s birth, the Ukrainian Institute presented a complete edition of the composer’s string quartets. A key feature of this collection is the presentation of two versions: the Urtext (the printed version of the original manuscripts) and a performing edition by the NotaBene Chamber Group.

On April 26, you will have the chance not only to see this edition but to hear it performed live. Andrii Pavlov (violin), Maksym Hrinchenko (violin), Ihor Zavhorodnii (viola), and Artem Poludennyi (cello) will perform two of Lyatoshynsky’s string quartets. These works reveal both the influence of Western European modernism and the distinct sound of 1920s Kyiv.
