Date and time
Add to calendarOn March 26, commemorating the birthday of Hetman Ivan Mazepa, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve will host a lecture titled "The Image of Mazepa Through the Eyes of the Ukrainian Parnassus Figures."
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Olha Kovalevska, a prominent historian and professor specializing in Mazepa’s legacy. Based on years of archival research, she will reveal forgotten and suppressed texts, including an unpublished drama by Mykhailo Starytsky and a censored play by Liudmyla Starytska-Cherniakhivska that was forcibly removed from libraries for decades.
Attendees will discover how shifting political landscapes shaped the literary portrayal of the Hetman and influenced his perception within Ukrainian culture.
