The program opens with one of the greatest masterpieces of the Romantic era: Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1. This is the confession of a 25-year-old genius, born from profound upheaval and desperate love. In it, you will hear the thunder of fate, a quiet prayer of gratitude, and an incredible strength of spirit that makes the piano resonate like an entire universe.
In contrast to Brahms’ dramatic element, Antonin Dvořák's Symphony No. 8 offers light and hope. It is a true hymn to life, inspired by birdsong, the rustle of Bohemian forests, and folk dances. Where Brahms seeks answers in the depths of the soul, Dvořák finds them in the beauty of the surrounding world. Although dramatic surges occur, the prevailing tone is one of sunny optimism. The finale opens with the famous trumpet fanfare, of which conductor Rafael Kubelík famously said: "In Bohemia, the trumpets never call to battle — they always call to dance!"
In this union of Brahms' drama and Dvořák's life-affirming spirit, true harmony is born. May this evening be a time of sincere discovery and inspiration that remains in your heart long after the final chord.
