"Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors"

Ivan Nebesny’s ballet "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" is a story about earthly and heavenly love, based on the legendary novella by Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky, with music by Ivan Nebesny and a libretto by Vasyl Vovkun.

A poetic narrative on the edge of reality and legend, truth and fantasy, will unfold before the audience in a modern vision by an international production team. The famous love story of Ivan and Marichka, coming from two feuding families, will be brought to life through the neoclassical choreography of ballet master Artem Shoshyn.

The spectacular scenography by Lithuanian artist Arvydas Buinauskas transports the characters into a contemporary postmodern world and offers a philosophical re-examination of humanity’s place within nature.
