We’ve compiled a selection of venues worth visiting this season: from new terraces with panoramic views of the Dnipro and green park-side terraces to intimate locations in the city center. Each of them has its own story, rhythm, and style of leisure. Choose the one that suits you best.
On the slopes near the Botanical Garden, there’s a café called “Subota” — a quiet oasis with a garden terrace, where you can enjoy “breakfasts in flowerbeds” and flower fairs. This terrace is all about calm: the rustle of greenery, the aroma of coffee, a croissant with strawberry jam, and the feeling of being at a friend’s cozy countryside house.
The place follows zero-waste principles, sorts trash, and supports local farmers. In addition to coffee and pies, there’s a small shop with vintage tableware and market-fresh flowers in pots — perfect if you want to take something with you.
Address: Mykilsko-Botanichna St., 7/9
If you dream of escaping to a tropical island but want to stay in Kyiv — head to the Havana terrace. It’s overflowing with palms and begonias, and it opens up to a wonderfully picturesque view of the Dnipro River. Here, it’s easy to imagine yourself on a Cuban resort — with a glass of mojito, Latin music playing, and the sun slowly setting on the horizon.
The menu features a creative interpretation of European cuisine, with each dish looking like a scene from a film. Special attention goes to the signature cocktails: bold, colorful, and just a bit cheeky — like Havana itself. It’s a great spot for date nights or slow evenings with friends when you want more romance and less city noise.
Address: Naberezhne Highway, 28
The Walnut Garden summer terrace at Markó café is a hidden garden in the heart of Kyiv, centered around a large, sprawling walnut tree. Its shade offers a perfect escape from the city heat — for sipping morning coffee, reading a book, or hosting dinner with friends at a long wooden table. No reservations here — first come, first served for the shady spots.
The menu features classic Kyiv-style dishes alongside creative twists on favorites: from customizable breakfasts to local appetizers and wine.
The café is named after writer Marko Vovchok, who once lived in Kyiv.
Address: Sofiivska St., 19
This charming little restaurant with a long name is further proof that a taste of real Italy is possible right in Podil.
It moved to Verkhniy Val in 2022 and set up a cozy terrace in a courtyard. Here you’ll find a colorful umbrella roof, like in quaint European towns, and a Sicilian fountain with a Moor’s head at the center. It’s a perfect place for a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner, or a cheerful gathering with a glass of prosecco.
Address: Verkhniy Val St., 24
Fabius is a green oasis with its own microclimate — a place to escape the city noise, dine in a gazebo among pine trees, or sip wine by the lake. The summer terrace is one of the coziest in the city: overlooking the water, surrounded by flowers, and infused with the light aroma of freshly baked bread from the on-site bakery.
The cuisine is Italian with a creative twist: pizza, pasta, cheese from their own dairy, and seasonal vegetables straight from the nearby greenhouse. Everything is made from fresh ingredients, many of which are homegrown.
Fabius is ideal for a slow-paced day — when you just want to breathe out, spend time with loved ones, or enjoy a romantic evening in the shade of the trees.
Address: Stolychne Highway, 70
This bar across from St. Andrew’s Church was opened back in 2021 by the co-founders of “Khvylovyi.” It’s named in honor of Ukrainian writer Ivan Bahrianyi — and not just for show. Bagryanyi hosts live readings, music nights, and charity events, and the entire atmosphere is infused with love for Ukrainian culture.
The summer terrace is a small backyard space affectionately known as “the back lot.” It’s a spot for those who appreciate simplicity, meaningful conversations, and the hum of Andriyivskyi Descent just behind them.
Address: Andriyivskyi Descent, 36V
If you’re looking for a peaceful spot in the city center to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine — the already legendary “Kashtan” is the place. Located on Reitarska Street, this venue combines the atmosphere of a small European café with the soul of a characterful bar.
Its terrace is a secluded inner courtyard, hidden away from the street noise. The menu offers all-day breakfasts, fresh pastries, coffee, and wine. It's perfect for a morning catch-up with a friend or a romantic evening over a glass of sparkling wine.
Address: Reitarska St., 9B
At the boutique hotel “Vozdvyzhensky,” you’ll find a venue with a truly enchanting view. The summer terrace of the “Terrace” restaurant is located on the fifth floor — offering a panorama of historic Kyiv and a private hillside garden planted on the grounds of 18th-century apothecary gardens.
The venue also offers a business event menu and unique experiences from the chef: tastings, master classes, dessert shows, and more.
Address: Vozdvyzhenska St., 60A
Located in Navodnytskyi Park, next to the monument to Kyiv’s founders, Veranda on the River is a three-deck restaurant. Everything here is thoughtfully designed — from cheese made in its own creamery to a rooftop terrace overlooking the Dnipro River, the “Motherland” monument, and the Rusanivska embankment.
Every Friday and Saturday, the venue hosts music-filled evenings with performances by musicians and DJs.
Address: Naberezhne Highway, 11A
Sunset Terrace was created to capture the most beautiful Kyiv evenings. It’s an open-air space with lounge chairs, music, and a view of the green Protasiv Yar. In the evenings, lounge sets play, live music fills the air, or open-air film screenings are held. The seating is arranged so everyone gets their own perfect view of the sunset.
The menu includes grilled meats, vegetables and fish, burgers, salads, desserts, and drinks for every taste.
Address: Protasiv Yar St., 23A (entrance from Amosova, 10)
This restaurant in Rusanivka calls itself a “café in the park,” but that’s only part of the story. In reality, it feels like you’re on a riverside resort.
Two open terraces with views of the Dnipro, greenery, fresh air, and the aroma of grilled meat — a recipe for a perfect summer evening. River Grill is equally great for a romantic dinner or a family gathering.
Address: Rusanivska Embankment, 3A
On the fifth floor of Gulliver is one of the city’s most famous terraces — at Mr. Zuma restaurant. It exudes the spirit of modern Tokyo, with lots of greenery, a minimalist interior, and an incredible panorama of Kyiv.
From this height, you can watch the city light up in the evening while enjoying your favorite dish and a glass of wine, listening to music, and savoring the moment.
