International Art Exhibition IMMERSIVE EXPRESSION

IMMERSIVE EXPRESSION - features the works of two internationally acclaimed artists: Taher Jaоui (Tunisia/Germany) and Mikhailo Deyak (Ukraine).

With their diverse origins and educational backgrounds, both artists are echoing in their works the abstract-expressionism movement of the 1950-1960s through contemporary interpretation and their own original approach. One of the main aspects of the abstract-expressionist ideology was the idea of immersing oneself fully in the act of creation. A very physical and yet emotional expression, a kind of game between the mind and the body merging into a single action while allowing the subconcious take over and dictate the final outcome. Another very important element, uniting both artists’ creations, is the use of color as a strong and active tool. Perception of color is one of the most complex and unique qualities pertaining to human beings, and it is also one of the strongest triggers for our subconcious. Massive blocks of one color, or color in combination with specific shapes and forms, is capable of bringing up memories or even evoking physiological responses in our body.

The abstract nature of both Taher’s and Mikhailo’s works allows the viewer to connect, interpret, and interact with paintings and objects in space through their own imagination, cultural background, childhood memories, associations as well as their personal life experiences.
