About the place

The Chinese are talented. They invented a compass, gunpowder, paper, noodles and a drum. Of all the above, I can only eat noodles, but I am worn all over the planet exclusively for Chinese-style curry chicken.

I ate curry chicken in Chisinau, San Francisco, Paris, London and in Du Long on Shevchenko Boulevard. But I am always not enough. I am always looking for her as a guiding light. And this time I found in "Han Yuuan" - a cafe of real Chinese cuisine.

When I asked the owner Peter (and relatives call him Dong Ping) how the name is translated, I expected to hear something poetic: "Jasmine", "Celestial" or "A face as beautiful as the moon." But it turned out to be an “aviation institute." And this is not unusual, since Khan Yuuan is located in the hostel of the National Aviation University.

The diner is already 12 years old. Previously, it was possible to enter it only through the watchman. Guests argued that they go for sweet and sour pork, and not for sex with a student from the third floor. Now nobody needs to prove anything. There is a separate entrance, on which the opening hours of the Chinese cafe are written.

This place was opened for me by Sergey Kalinin, a good friend and culinary judge of the MasterShef project at STB. Then our companions were extremely surprised by the meeting place, and defiantly drank only tea. We had dinner with pleasure. Inside the international: companies of Chinese, African American and Arab students vigorously indulge in their own way, filling tables with Chinese delicacies.

Many call the "Han Yuang" canteen, but there is nothing offensive here.

11 tables, an extremely plain interior, no strong alcohol, no tablecloths either - everything is quite ascetic, but this is its cimes.

Since the restaurant is a stone's throw from the Fast and the Furious club, we agreed with art director Anton Nekrasov and photographer Kolya Kovalyov to figure out a dinner for three. We ordered black and white mushrooms (85 hryvnias) and soy cheese with green onions (53).
