The Faculty of Cybernetics of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University was established on May 6, 1969 on the initiative of academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine V.M. Glushkov and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Professor II. Lyashko. Almost immediately after the creation, the Faculty of Cybernetics became a powerful center for training specialists in the field of computational mathematics and computer science in the USSR.
Now the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics consists of 9 departments: Computational Mathematics, Complex Systems Modeling, Operations Research, Theoretical Cybernetics, Theory and Technology of Programming, Mathematical Informatics, Systems Analysis and Decision-Making Theory, Applied Statistics, Information Systems with 100 Teachers ( 31 professors, 50 associate professors, 19 assistants including 30 doctors of physical and mathematical sciences, 4 doctors of technical sciences, 58 candidates of physical and mathematical sciences, 3 candidates of technical sciences Physical Sciences).
Today the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics is one of the largest faculties of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and is a center for training specialists in educational and qualification levels "Bachelor" and "Master"
