PREMIER "Under the sky blue"

The play "Under the Blue Sky," written in 2000, has led many to talk about David Eldridge as one of Britain's leading playwrights of our time. For this play, the young 27-year-old playwright was awarded the winner for the best dramatic work of the West End. Subsequently, premieres of the play took place on many prestigious theater venues in the world.

In the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theater, the play "Under the Blue Sky" won the production of the results of the theatrical contest "Taking the Stage" initiated by the British Council in Ukraine. Under the terms of the competition, young director Tamara Trunova chose David Eldridge's play "Under the Blue Sky", the text of which, according to her words, "was the most liked." The contest took place in two stages and already the second sketch of the play "Under the Blue Sky" performed by the artists of the National Operetta Dmitry Vivcharyuk and Ace Seredy-Goldun and the artists Irina Tkachenko and Andriy Isaenko became the favorite of experts and theatrical audience.

"The peculiarity of the statement is that we tried to open some episodes of the text through the genre of operetta", - notes Tamara Trunova. Heroes of the performance with an academic vocal "comment" feelings and relationships, and musical accompaniment accompanies the quartet of musicians.

David Eldridge's "Under the Blue Sky" play consists of three short stories-dialogues, in which six heroes, teachers in the profession, try to get to know each other, find love, and sometimes seek to just establish an intimate relationship. A mathematics teacher draws a teacher of history into bed, and then mocks him. A geography teacher seeks to seduce a teacher-philologist, but he is interested in a career and urgent household matters. The third pair is the happiest one: teachers with a 20-year-old difference in age fall in love with each other.

One loves, the other one, only binds only bedding, others - everything except the bed, and someone simply can not understand. Relationships between a man and a woman - become a maze from which there is no way out. In fact, the play "Under the sky blue" about love, about the feelings of people to each other, but the main characters - people affected by the disease of the century - the fear of real emotions, people with a phobia full of feelings. What is the role of dramaturgy, theater, music in this maze of emotions and feelings? Contemporary art seeks to put harsh questions about society. Will we find the answer to them?
