KMP – 2026: Ukraine – Europe. Symphonic Mainstream

The works in this program simultaneously address both the present and the past. César Franck, writing in the Romantic musical language of his time, was inspired by and emulated the imagined sounds of early music, imbued with the spirit of knightly nobility and courage. In his work, Ihor Shcherbakov confronts the realities of the Majdanek concentration camp during World War II, reflecting on historical events through contemporary musical lenses.

Valerii Antoniuk continues the traditions of Ukrainian musical modernism, infusing contemporary music with moderation and softness. Meanwhile, Serhii Kadenko and Yevhenii Hepliuk draw upon modern intonational practices, adding the freedom of pop music or the dreaminess of cinematic animation to classical structures.
