Add to calendar"Kyiv Music Premiers 2026" is a contemporary classical music festival held in Kyiv since 1989. Its mission is to showcase new works by Ukrainian and international composers. Organized by the Kyiv Branch of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, this year’s festival will take place from May 22 to May 31, 2026.
The theme of the 2026 edition is "Polyphony of Life." It represents the multi-voiced nature of modernity—the intersection of cultures, experiences, and artistic languages. The festival creates an ecosystem for modern musical life where every voice—whether composer, performer, musicologist, critic, or listener—holds unique significance. Beyond classical premiers, the program features jazz concerts, masterclasses, creative meetups, and critical discussions.
Just as the first notes of a piece shape its acoustic profile, the opening concert defines the festival's atmosphere, which we strive to make luminous, profound, and welcoming. The program includes Kyiv premiers of orchestral works by leading contemporary Ukrainian composers:
Danyil Hetman meticulously constructs musical space from intricate details;
Olena Serova explores the power of gritty, avant-garde textures;
Oleksandr Shymko uses musical tools to intensify themes of grief and longing;
Ivan Nebesnyy offers cinematically expressive and rich compositions;
Zoltan Almashi infuses his music with light, hope, and sincerity.
