Add to calendarThe program "Jesu, meine Freude / Jesus, My Joy" brings together 17th-century German Baroque sacred music centered on themes of joy, light, and hope. Works by Heinrich Schütz, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Johann Rosenmüller create a space for attentive listening, where word and music merge into an inner experience of faith, trust, and community.
This program holds special significance due to the participation of cellist Jörg Zwicker, a great friend of Ukraine, whose visit is made possible with the support of Open Opera Ukraine. This is not his first visit: for many years, he has regularly traveled to Ukraine, supporting and collaborating with Ukrainian musicians even during the most challenging times of the war. For us, his presence is always a profound joy and a sign of true solidarity.
This concert is a collaborative project in which Jörg Zwicker not only performs but also curates and coaches the program, shaping its artistic logic alongside the ensemble. The program’s title, "Jesu, meine Freude," was born from this experience of co-creation: joy as a state, a process, and the result of a shared musical journey that unites people, traditions, and meanings.
