Date and time
Add to calendarWe invite you to visit a unique exhibition dedicated to the history of weapons and military equipment in Ukraine, from ancient times to the present day.
The museum's arms collection dates back to the late 19th century. Today, it continues to grow with modern weaponry and gear, including artifacts from the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. The exhibition showcases the weapons used by Ukrainians and their ancestors to fight and prevail. It features Allied weaponry as well as trophies captured from the enemy.
The Cossack era is represented by Western European, Polish, Turkish, and Muscovite arms and armor. Meanwhile, the 20th-century Ukrainian national liberation struggles are illustrated by weaponry from the UNR (Ukrainian People's Republic) Army, the UGA (Ukrainian Galician Army), and the UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army). The historic use of captured weapons by Cossacks and UPA fighters mirrors how modern Ukrainians repurpose tanks abandoned by retreating Russian forces.
A special section is dedicated to the Battle of Kumeiky (December 1637), where the Crown Army of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth faced Cossack and peasant forces led by Pavlo But. Last year, the museum's archaeological expedition conducted research at the battlefield site.
One of the displays is a tribute to the museum staff members who volunteered to defend Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
