What to Do in Kyiv on the Weekend of May 2–4: Concerts, Exhibitions, Fairs, and Festivals

The first May weekend in Kyiv promises to be bright and eventful. Dozens of activities are planned across the city to suit every taste: open-air concerts, beer and vintage car festivals, exhibitions of contemporary and naive art, folk fairs, and art tours outside the city.

This weekend you’ll be able to hear favorite hits by MamaRika and Natalia Mogilevska, see vintage cars at Old Car Land, visit a folk art fair in Pyrohiv, immerse yourself in surrealist art at St. Sophia Cathedral, or plan a cultural getaway to Lypivka and Dobropark.

MamaRika Concert on the “V'YAVA” Stage

On May 4, MamaRika will perform a large open-air concert on the “V'YAVA” stage. The program includes beloved hits like “МАЄМО”, “СИНУ”, “На руках”, “Люди”, “Лелека”, as well as her new track “Колишня”, dedicated to her husband Serhii Sereda. The song went viral instantly, stayed in YouTube’s trending section for three weeks, and has already resonated with thousands of listeners.

MamaRika is one of the most sincere artists in the country, living through true stories in every song. Her music supported Ukrainians during the hardest moments of war — and continues to do so today.

The project’s author is photographer Oleksandr Serhienko, with artistic design by Oksana Horobtsova. Their works form a kind of kaleidoscope of images, where everyday objects transform into refined scenes, and each pattern reveals a new story. “Ugly Kiss on a Starry Day”: Naive Art Exhibition at SQUAT 17B Yard Cafe

Since April 28, the exhibition “Ugly Kiss on a Starry Day” has been on display at SQUAT 17B Yard Cafe. It features works in the style of naive art — vibrant colors, quirky shapes, emotional sincerity, and the atmosphere of warm memories that never really happened.

The central images are lips and stars — symbols of noise and silence, enlightenment and self-discovery. Sculpture, deformed silhouettes, and whimsical palettes create a world where beauty emerges from imperfection, and sincerity is the true language of emotion.

The exhibition includes original paintings, prints, rugs, and merchandise featuring works by artist Sasha. Most pieces are available for purchase.
