Places for lovers

Kyiv is home to numerous 'places of love' where finding yourself on Valentine's Day would be highly symbolic. If you haven't yet been to the Bridge of Lovers or the Wall of Confessions, be sure to visit these places on February 14th.

1. Bridge of lovers

Bridge of Lovers

Park Bridge, Kyiv

The Park Bridge, Devil's Bridge, Bridge of Kisses, and the Small Paton Bridge – the capital's Bridge of Lovers in Mariinsky Park goes by many names. Couples come here for their first hesitant dates, confess their feelings, and perform a special ritual – as a sign of their love, they tie ribbons or padlocks and even write confessions on the railings. The Bridge of Lovers is also associated with many superstitions. For instance, it is believed that if you kiss someone here, you will remain in their heart forever.

2. Wall of confessions

Wall of confessions

You'll find the Wall of Confessions on an abandoned building located on Yaroslaviv Val Street. Here, lovers confess their deepest feelings by leaving inscriptions and poetic messages using chalk or spray paint. Recently, a poem by Joseph Brodsky, 'Letters to the Wall,' has also appeared on it.

3. Tree of happiness

Navodnytsky Park

Kyiv, Ukraine

In Navodnitsky Park on Naberezhne Highway, another symbol of love and family happiness can be found – a tree made of wrought iron. Lovers come to it to hang ribbons and make romantic wishes. The Tree of Happiness is especially popular with newlyweds. To ensure a happy life together, they tie ribbons on the branches, touch a leaf for enduring love to accompany their journey, and touch the fruits for beautiful and healthy future children.

4. Lovers' lanterns

Влюбленные Фонари

Independence Square, Kyiv

You've probably noticed this monument at Maidan. Two lovers' lanterns – a boy and a girl – sitting, embraced, on the edge of a bench near the Globus Shopping Center. This pair appeared in the capital in February 2009. Its creator is the renowned blacksmith artist Volodymyr Bilokon. He depicted the lanterns as a symbol of light to convey the image of an enduring love. By the way, there's a spot near the loving couple for you to sit, embrace, and take photos.

Pleasure for the body

Love is a delight for the soul, but what about the body? On Valentine's Day, you can combine the two and get double pleasure.

1. Couples massage

Soap, with coconut or warm oils, a hot candle, and even a splash of champagne – choose any of these massage options and head to the nearest salon. Relaxation, pleasure, and a multitude of sensual experiences are guaranteed for you. And, of course, you can double all these effects, as you'll be sharing the procedure with your significant other.

Expressing feelings through music – a more romantic way to celebrate February 14th, probably doesn't need searching for. On Valentine's Day, the organizers have prepared several special concerts.

1. Concert of the 'Skai' Band at Atlas

Ukraine's top romantic rockers will perform on Valentine's Day at the Atlas club. Old soulful hits and lyrical new songs – each of these compositions has become a soundtrack to someone's love story. If the band's songs were playing during the early days of your relationship, don't miss this concert.

2. Lama Concert at Caribbean Club Concert Hall

In these songs, love is celebrated, and Lama will take the stage at Caribbean Club on February 14th. It's as if this holiday was made for her performances. Proposing your love while listening to Lama's music will be especially unique.

3. Jazz Love Songs Concert at the Parkovy Convention and Exhibition Center

Expressive, sensual, and passionate – jazz has long earned the title of 'music of love.' It sings about love, marvels at it, adores it, and lives it in every note. On February 14th, among all the concerts, a jazz performance will be the perfect choice. When you find yourself alone with the saxophone's cascades, no words will be needed anymore. Jazz will speak for you.
