The "Fiddler on the Roof" Gallery invites you on October 5 at 18:00 to the opening of Olha Kravchenko's exhibition "In the Garden of Memory."
Memory has the ability to bring distant spaces closer, bring back voices and faces, and preserve the elusive light of a long-gone day. In Olha Kravchenko's paintings, these lasting impressions continue their autonomous life: they change over time, acquire new coloristic shades, and find unexpected internal resonances.
The artist's figurative world grows out of the Krasyliv of her childhood, where Yiddish was still heard in the post-war years, and memories of neighbors were an integral part of a close, native world. Later, this experience was enriched by the rocky slopes of Israel, ancient olive trees, the turquoise coast of Eilat, and the Marais Jewish quarter in Paris. Each of these places left a lasting imprint on the artist's worldview.
Encounters with Jewish culture and art over the years echoed in the artist's work through subtle allusions, a kinship of moods, and new semantic connections. What was seen and experienced organically integrated into her own artistic language, becoming part of a long, quiet dialogue.
The exhibition "In the Garden of Memory" accumulates these visual reflections, gathering memories and sensations in a single space. Placed side by side, the canvases reveal hidden connections that previously remained unnoticed and form a cohesive narrative about the mutual echo of cultures in the life and art of one person.
