"Oh, a Kolodoika Fell from the Sky" — Kolodii (Masnytsia) at "Mamayeva Sloboda" February 21 & 22, 2026 Starts at 1:00 PM

Event Program:

• Mini-tour of an authentic 17th–18th century Cossack village, located near one of the sources of the Lybid River.

• Varenyky making masterclass — "My Lucky Dumpling": every participant will hand-craft several of their own "lucky" varenyky.

• Celebration according to authentic Ukrainian rites and traditions — a talk on the sacred meanings of the holiday: WHY VARENYK AND KOLODKA, INSTEAD OF BLINI AND EFFIGIES?!

• Swaddling the Kolodka (the traditional ritual of "birthing" the wooden log).

• Attaching the Kolodka — a symbolic "punishment" for unmarried young men and women.

• Dragging and "dancing out" the Kolodka.

• Folk dance masterclass.

• Tasting of traditional varenyky and the spirited "Pani Vyshnia" (cherry liqueur).

• Enchanting authentic singing and live performances by a folklore ensemble.
