About the place
“Selyam” is a Crimean Tatar cuisine restaurant by Alex Cooper located in Podil. Its concept grew out of the restaurateur’s personal memories of a qırıymly family his parents were friends with: making manty together, backyard barbecues, shurpa cooked in a cauldron, chebureki, and long family feasts.
The menu features dishes that shape an understanding of Crimean Tatar cuisine: pide, chebureki, manty, yantyky, lagman, shurpa, kebabs, and charcoal-grilled dishes. The restaurant’s format is built around the idea of a large shared table and hospitality, making “Selyam” a great choice for a group dinner, a family gathering, or a first introduction to Crimean Tatar cuisine in Kyiv.
