About event

The Theater on the Left Bank presents a play created for the opening of the RADAR OST 2023 festival with the support of the Goethe-Institut. It was later showcased at the Kierunek Wschód VII festival (Poland), Fokus Ukraine — Europäisches Theaterfestival 777 TAGE ДНІВ DAYS (Germany), and Piatra Neamț (Romania). Now, this special performance is also available to the Ukrainian audience. The production team includes:

  • Idea, dramaturgy, direction, set design – Tamara Trunova
  • Lighting and video projection – Ruslan Berezovyi
  • Text work – Marina Smilyanets
  • Music – Matthias Kremsreiter
  • Producers – Stas Zhirkov, Kateryna Hradnova-Savitska.
  • Cast: Oleksandr Sokolov, Iryna Tkachenko, Oleg Stefan, Maryna Klimova, Volodymyr Kravchuk, Kateryna Kisten, Vitaliy Saliy, Olena Bushevska, Dmytro Oliynyk.

Rehearsals for the play "Hamlet" took place at the Theater on the Left Bank in February 2022. The poster depicted Hamlet (Oleksandr Sokolov) holding the doors of a subway train — as if trying to stop time. However, the rehearsals were interrupted by the full-scale invasion. This is how the title Halt — "Hamlet" came to be, from which the word "me" was cut out, leaving "full stop." Halt represents profound reflections on our losses and what we have lost. The performance will not leave anyone indifferent. We look forward to seeing you!
