Music at the Court of Louis XIV in Versailles

This evening, the National Ensemble of Soloists "Kyiv Camerata" under the baton of Austrian conductor Jörg Zwicker will open to the audience the world of Versailles during the era of the Sun King - a time of magnificent holidays, exquisite dances and theatrical spectacles, when music was an integral part of court life, and the French Baroque was at its peak. Here, splendor was combined with grace, and strict court etiquette with lively, often "peak" human feelings.

The program is based on the works of Jean-Baptiste Lully, the court composer of Louis XIV, whose work shaped the musical image of 17th-century France. Grace and theatricality, dance lightness and festive brilliance, noble restraint and perfection of form - all these features were embodied in the music that sounded in the palace halls and accompanied the life of the most influential court in Europe.
