About event

We invite you to visit a unique exhibition dedicated to the history of beliefs on the territory of Ukraine, from the earliest times to the advent of Christianity.

The exhibition "Pre-Christian Beliefs of Ukraine" explores the origins of religious beliefs, as well as rituals and ideas related to human life cycles (birth, marriage, and death) and the home. It highlights ancient sacred sites and their veneration, the personification of ancient deities and cult practitioners, and our ancestors' perceptions of the world’s structure and humanity's place in the Universe.

The exhibition features over 500 original archaeological finds from the collection of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, including items never before displayed to the public. Highlights include:

  • A mammoth shoulder blade decorated with ancient patterns;

  • Trypillian figurines and "binocular-shaped" vessels;

  • A Scythian bronze finial depicting the god Papaios and necklaces of a noble Scythian woman from the Melitopol kurgan;

  • A "calendar" jug from the Chernyakhiv culture;

  • Exquisite examples of ancient Greek bronze and ceramic vessels.
