Kyiv is a city with numerous charming parks where nature intertwines with history and culture. Whether you're looking for a place for family leisure, a stroll with friends, or a cozy corner to enjoy the autumn colors, the capital offers a plethora of options. From the majestic panoramas of Mariinsky Park to the unique landscapes of "Kyoto," these green spaces not only impress with their beauty but also hide intriguing stories and features.

In our selection are the 10 most beautiful parks in Kyiv, perfect for walks with children and friends.

Maryinsky park

Maryinsky Park undoubtedly deserves the title of the "most beautiful park in Kyiv," with a history that dates back to the 18th century. Enchanting panoramic views, refined architecture highlighted by the ceremonial residence of the President of Ukraine, and exquisite garden art — everything here is complete, aesthetic, and perfect.

This autumn, a maple alley was planted in Maryinsky Park in honor of the musicians who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion.

Lake park in Kyiv — "Kyoto"

An extraordinarily beautiful park that is a true highlight of the left bank of Kyiv, founded and created with the support of Japan. Here, oddly enough, is the longest cherry blossom alley in the world, which is listed in the Guinness World Records. Additionally, there are other unique features — a recently renovated stone park, an iconic pagoda tower, and a lake with a wooden bridge.

The most beautiful parks of Kyiv — City garden

This amazing creation of garden art is hidden behind the Verkhovna Rada. Laid out at the end of the 19th century according to the design of Italian architect Francesco Rastrelli and refined by renowned garden masters D. Fok and L. I. Hofmeister, it was closed for a long time to "ordinary" visitors. Even today, its part with a luxurious fountain continues to be called the Tsarsky.

Now, on the territory of this landmark park on the right bank of Kyiv, there are monuments to Lesya Ukrainka, Mykhailo Hlynka, and Maria Zankovetska. There is also the summer theater "Mushlya," where the National Philharmonic performs in the warm season, as well as the "Dynamo" stadium named after V. Lobanovsky, where once the "Valley of Roses" was located.

Solomyansky landscape park

This park on the right bank of Kyiv is not just a green area — it is a unique natural enclave with a cascade of glades, stairs, streams, springs with clean drinking water, and a panoramic view of the city center. Due to its exceptional landscape, historical and archaeological landmarks (which are not all fully explored yet), it falls under the European Landscape Convention.

Overall, the area, which covers more than 27 hectares, is divided into an eastern — more park-like zone, and a western — forested area. Today, there is also a dog-walking zone, a sports ground, and a tennis area.

Even today, Solomyansky Park is famous for having its public defenders who prevent the construction of the Park Life residential complex — currently, this issue is under litigation.

Parks on the left bank of Kyiv — "Muromets"

Here is the most beautiful park in Kyiv for cycling, as well as the largest park in Ukraine and one of the most beautiful in Europe.

"Muromets" in autumn is the best place for cycling. It features a multitude of diverse landscapes, views, and vegetation, along with a wide range of bike rentals and even a bike café called "Laiba." This year, "Muromets" will host "aesthetic" bike races in the style of Halloween.

Overall, the park covers 220 hectares, divided into four thematic zones — a sports zone (where you can engage in over 200 types of sports), a beach zone, a memorial zone, and a children's area.

Pine park of Kyiv

An extraordinary square that is green in every season is hidden in the depths of the large park complex of KPI. It has a long noble history, having been founded a century and a half ago. So, besides its unique pine vegetation, it can enchant visitors with an ancient fountain featuring the sculpture "Boy with a Swan" by the Italian artist Lorenzo Bernini. Among modern attractions, there is an artificial stream with decorative water bodies.

"Pribrezhnoy" park

Beauty instead of construction debris. One of the newest parks in Kyiv, "Pribrezhnoy," was opened in the Dnipro embankment area in Osokorky during the full-scale war in 2022.

Today, it occupies almost 8 hectares and has a luxurious waterfront area with benches, bike and pedestrian paths, a sports ground, and 4 radically different children's playgrounds (classical ones for younger and older children, an inclusive one, and a rope playground).

An unusual attraction of this young modern park is the artificial "geoplastic" green hill. A year ago, it was decorated with blue star lanterns.

Parks of Kyiv on the right bank — "Volodymyrska hirka"

"Volodymyrska Hirka" is located on the middle and upper terraces of Mykhailivska Hill and is crowned by St. Michael's Cathedral, beginning above Khreshchatyk. This is perhaps the most beautiful park in Kyiv and definitely our park gem, recognized as a national landmark of significance.

On the hill stands the largest relief in Europe with the majestic monument to Prince Volodymyr the Great, created more than 200 years ago. In modern times, a glass bridge and a fountain with the sculpture of the patron and defender of Kyiv, Archangel Michael, have appeared here. Moreover, there is always an incredible romantic atmosphere: breathtaking views of the city, elegant and large pavilions, and live music often fills the air...

Park "Puscha-Vodytsia"

Perhaps the most picturesque park with a lake in Kyiv, and there are also other water sources here—a cascade of ponds and the Kotuarka River. "Puscha-Vodytsia" has been recognized as a national monument of garden and park art.

The best time to visit is autumn, when the multicolored trees, mainly ancient oaks and pines, shine in bright colors. And if you reach here via the longest tram route in the city, which has been operating for over 100 years, the journey through the forests will be magically beautiful.

Park "Yunist"

This park on the right bank of Kyiv is notable for having one of the largest playgrounds in the city and occupies part of the historical area known as Kadetsky Hays. A stream of the same name also flows here.

A few years ago, "Yunist" underwent a major renovation, during which unique bench-seats, lawns, and a living hedge of cotoneaster were introduced. Recently, 350 bushes and 250 perennial plants were planted here. The greenery of the park is actively being updated, and the reconstruction of its pool is ongoing.

Getting to know Kyiv's parks reveals a completely different side of the capital—cozy, picturesque, and peaceful. They become ideal places for relaxation, picnics, walks with children and friends, as well as for discovering new spots.
