Add to calendarHave you ever been to Sweden? Even if not, you surely must know that Sweden's capital is the cozy city of Stockholm. Right in the very center of Stockholm, there is an extraordinary park named "Skansen," and a great many squirrels live in this park. They are cute and funny little animals, but they have scruffy tails because they are undernourished. "How can that be? Surely tourists feed them," you might think, and you would be right. But the squirrels in Skansen Park have simply terrible memories: they hide nuts and then forget where they buried them, which is why they go hungry.
The protagonist of this play, who forgets nothing, loves watching these squirrels. Throughout the entire 20th century, she learned to love and let go of those she loved, and learned to accept herself and others. Some people accepted her, while others simply didn't notice she existed. Her life seems small and insignificant on the scale of a whole century's events, but is it ever possible for anyone's life to be unimportant?
Her life is a sentimental, cozy, cheerful, and touching story spanning 100 years. She searched for a long time for someone to trust with her secrets. She looked for someone who could understand her, someone capable of telling her story on stage. That "someone" turned out to be director Stas Zhyrkov, who one day while feeding squirrels in Mariinsky Park suddenly realized the time had come for the world to learn about the Squirrel that lived a whole century.
She will speak to you from the stage of the Golden Gate Theatre in the voice of Vitalina Bibliv, using her sense of humor and imagination. Well? Are you ready to hear the incredible story of one small and insignificant squirrel who lived a hundred years?
