This courtyard is a living reminder of Podil in the early 20th century. In the second half of the 19th century, the land belonged to the well-known lawyer and professor of Saint Volodymyr University, Mykola Ivanyshev. The buildings we see today took shape in 1901.
In the past, this place housed a wallpaper workshop, a tinware shop, clothing and shoe repair workshops, and even a small factory producing artificial mineral water.
Today, the courtyard captures the true spirit of Podil: wooden outdoor staircases lead to apartments, laundry hangs on clotheslines, and instead of tourist hustle — there's peace and the scent of old wood. It’s the perfect spot to experience Kyiv without filters.
