About event

We invite you to the interactive series "From the History of Ancient Musical Instruments," featuring the Vargan (Drymba).

The event opens with the story of archaeologist Serhii Hamchenko, who in 1926 discovered an 11th-12th century vargan on Old Kyiv Hill. Participants will have a rare chance to see this ancient instrument and other artifacts from the National Museum of the History of Ukraine's collection.

The program continues with Andrii Kozachenko, a master craftsman and musician who has revitalized this ancient folk instrument. Andrii is a junior sergeant in the Unmanned Systems Forces of the AFU and a combat veteran. He will share the history of the drymba, demonstrate various playing techniques, and lead a workshop where everyone can try playing and creating their own rhythm.

  • Date: March 28, 2026 (Saturday) at 1:00 PM.

  • Admission: Free with registration.

  • Inquiries: +38 (044) 278-48-64 or via Telegram/Viber at +38 (093) 855-61-16.
