The voice of 20th-century Ukrainian music: the exhibition "Liatoshynsky. Reflection" is opening at the Ukrainian House.
The Ukrainian House explores the path of the person who changed the sound of Ukrainian academic music—Borys Liatoshynsky—continuing to highlight figures without whom Ukrainian culture is unimaginable. Following exhibitions dedicated to Alla Horska, Maria Prymachenko, female artists of the Boichukism school, and other personalities, the institution is presenting its first musical exhibition.
The exhibition project "Liatoshynsky. Reflection" will reveal the figure of one of the most prominent Ukrainian composers, who stood at the origins of the modernist turn, shaped the modern Ukrainian musical tradition, and managed to preserve his identity in the face of the era's challenges.
"Liatoshynsky. Reflection" is a unique exhibition that will, for the first time on a large scale, present the composer's figure within the context of Ukrainian culture and history. The exposition invites visitors to trace how his creative biography intertwines with the history of the 20th century, and how his personal artistic choices intertwine with the destiny of Ukrainian culture.
