Easter at Saint Sophia Cathedral

Ukrainian Easter is a celebration radiating with ancient traditions, uniting the Resurrection of the Lord with the spring rebirth of nature.

For the third year, Lenten canticles, spring carols (vesnianky), and choral music will resonate under the Easter bells of Saint Sophia Cathedral and its thousand-year-old courtyard. Nearly 50 rediscovered ancient songs and folk games will be performed by youth and children, while kobzars and lirnyks will uphold the epic tradition that preserves the heroic memory of our people.

Highlights of the celebration:

• The Easter bell of Saint Sophia belfry blessing Kyiv and all of Ukraine.

• A communal feast in the sanctuary’s garden, bringing together participants and guests.

• A dedicated children's area for traditional games with Easter eggs and the "Know Your Ukraine" educational project.

• Folk masters showcasing handmade Ukrainian crafts.
