we think enough time has now passed for BUFFALO 66 to be unreservedly conferred with cult status. a genre-bending romantic comedy made on a shoestring, the film features an urban drifter, recently released from prison, who kidnaps a girl and forces her to act as his wife when he visits his parents.

the film was a standout one hit wonder for the film’s multi-hyphenate writer/director/editor/composer/lead actor, Vincent Gallo and attracted some of the biggest stars of the 90’s: Christina Ricci, Mickey Rourke and Anjelica Huston, all playing completely against type.

not to be missed by cinematography nerds, this is one of the last films to be shot on rare, reversal 35mm stock and features some of the most original colouring, mise-en-scene and visual composing you’ll ever see on screen.
