Alterra — a licensed private school (grades 0–11), the child is the main character. Learning is built around their interests: if a student loves dinosaurs, they can write essays about them; fractions are explored while making pizza. This personalized approach is made possible by small class sizes — just 12 students per class.
Each child has a personal tutor — a mentor who acts not just as a teacher, but as a role model. They hold one-on-one meetings, help set and achieve both educational and personal goals, and support the student on their growth journey.
At Alterra, every voice matters. Students take an active role in shaping school life — they choose electives, sports, the school bell music, and even help create the rules. They see firsthand how their voice makes a real impact.
The school combines theory with practice. Knowledge isn’t abstract here — students gain practical skills that are useful right now and will continue to be relevant in adult life.
