On July 24, the National Museum "Kyiv National Art Gallery" is opening the exhibition project "Monochrome" — a major exposition of works by participants of the 4th International Photobiennial "Ukrainian Art Photography."
This year, 26 photo artists were given an uncompromising creative challenge: to abandon color and turn exclusively to monochrome photography.
In a world overloaded with variegation and aggressive visual noise, the succinctness of the black-and-white palette allows the viewer to focus on the essence of things and hidden emotions. The exposition symbolically returns to the roots of photographic art, where contemporary digital photography harmoniously coexists with classical practices of the mid-19th century.
Twenty-six authors present their individual vision of the world through a variety of visual forms: from portraits and botanical still lifes to collages and architectural shots.
