We interact with neural networks every day. They analyze data, write texts, pass difficult exams, and brilliantly imitate empathy. It seems we are a step away from creating a true mind, and the fact that modern models pass the Turing test only reinforces this belief. Is this actually the case?

Modern AI progress rather highlights our own cognitive vulnerability: the tendency to see intention and a "soul" in lines of code, rather than proving the presence of real consciousness in algorithms.

At this lecture, we will examine the conceptual abyss between what artificial intelligence appears to be and what it technically is. We will trace the path from early mathematical models to the architecture of modern neural networks to deconstruct the notion of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and strong AI, and understand why LLMs remain brilliant manipulators of syntax who are fundamentally devoid of semantic understanding.

What will be covered at the lecture:

  • The mechanics of illusion;

  • Epistemological boundary;

  • AI paradoxes;

  • Ethics of the "black box."

The lecture is designed for a general audience, without requiring specific knowledge or education.

After registration, you will be redirected to a Telegram group chat where all necessary information will be posted.

  • Lecturer: Ruslan Myronenko — Archē and co-founder of Plato's Cave.
